PixARK Terracrypt DLC is Out Now

PixARK Terracrypt underground biome

PixARK: Terracrypt is out now, taking the game underground for a full expansion rather than adding another small creature pack to the surface. After your ship is shot down, a damaged distress signal pulls the group deeper into a hidden world with its own storyline, three underground layers and 13 different biomes. That clearer direction matters in PixARK, giving everyone something to follow between building, taming and the inevitable attempt to bring home something that should probably have stayed in the cave.

Crystal-filled caverns, hostile depths and stranger pockets of the underground give Terracrypt a shape of its own instead of making it feel like the normal map with less daylight. Reaching the lower layers means learning where resources, threats and safe routes sit all over again, which should make exploration worthwhile even for groups that already know the base game inside out.

Across those biomes are 65 creatures found only underground and 11 bosses, giving returning players plenty to hunt, fight and try to tame. Progress does not stop at collecting them either. A new steam-and-gas technology tier brings machinery, construction pieces and combat options built around the underground world, so established groups have another production chain to understand instead of simply clearing each cave once.

Side-wall construction gives builders another way to shape bases, while improved crop lighting, creature tracking through the management interface and changes to imprinting should remove some of the usual friction over a longer session. Extra character information beside health bars also makes it easier to understand what is happening when a busy fight or a crowded base fills the screen.

The launch has not been completely clean, with the developers already responding to loading problems, crash reports and taming-related crashes affecting some language versions. Server owners should take a backup before switching everyone over, make sure players are on the same build and check any mods or custom setup the group relies on. Terracrypt is big enough that treating it like a routine restart is asking for someone to lose an evening.

You can read the official Terracrypt launch announcement, the Terracrypt Steam page and the latest client update note on Steam. If your group is heading underground together, our PixARK server hosting page has the current setup options.
