What is Subnautica 2

Subnautica 2 enters Early Access on 14th May 2026. We are watching for dedicated server files and will launch hosting as soon as proper server support is available.

Subnautica 2 is the next underwater survival adventure from Unknown Worlds, set on a brand-new alien ocean planet. You are stranded, pushed to keep going by an onboard AI, and the only way forward is to dive, learn what lives down there, and build what you need to survive.

The game is built to work solo or in four players co-op. That is where a dedicated server shines. No one person has to host, sessions stay consistent, and your world keeps moving even when one of you logs off.

Progress is the classic loop done right. You scan wildlife and ruins, craft tools that open up deeper routes, and keep upgrading your kit as the planet starts showing its teeth. Each dive is a risk, but it is also how you uncover the bigger story and what the AI is really trying to achieve.

Base building is your safety net. Set up a main hub, drop smaller outposts near key biomes, and keep your supplies organised so you can recover fast after a rough run. With a server, your group can split jobs properly, one person farms materials, another explores, another builds, and you do not lose momentum to host lag or disconnects.

Exploration is all about pushing past the comfort zone. You will move through new biomes, meet everything from tiny oddities to massive leviathans, and use vehicles to travel further and safer as you expand your range. When your next upgrade is on the other side of a deep trench, you will be glad you built the infrastructure to get there.

Our Subnautica 2 server hosting gives you a reliable always on world, quick setup, full control from the panel, and automated backups so you can roll back if something goes wrong. If you want the cleanest co-op experience, this is the way to play.

Subnautica 2 Server Hosting FAQ

Common questions about Subnautica 2 co-op, dedicated servers, saves, crossplay and Early Access hosting.

Yes. Subnautica 2 supports 4 players co-op, so you can explore, build and survive together on the same world.
The current player count is up to 4 players in total.
That is the big question players are asking. Dedicated server files are not publicly available yet, so we are watching for the proper server build before opening orders.
Yes. With a dedicated server, no one person has to host. The world stays online so your group can join without waiting for someone to start the session.
Co-op puts everyone into the same world, so bases, resources and exploration all matter to the group. On a server, that save lives in one place instead of being tied to one player's PC.
We expect save transfers to be one of the first things people ask for, but the exact process depends on how Unknown Worlds releases server files. Once we have the files, we will confirm the folder paths and migration steps.
The Steam page lists Cross-Platform Multiplayer. We will confirm how that works with dedicated servers once the server files are released and tested.
That is not fully clear yet. Subnautica 2 is focused around small group co-op, so we expect most servers to be private worlds for mates rather than huge public servers.
Yes, Early Access games can change quickly. Updates may add biomes, creatures, craftables, vehicles and fixes, but they can also break settings or saves. That is why backups and easy updates matter.
Once hosting is live, you will get quick setup, an always on world, full panel access, FTP access where supported, and automated backups so your group can play without relying on one player to host.
