Minecraft Chaos Cubed update teaser

In this blog, we'll be exploring the recently announced Chaos Cubed update for Minecraft. This update is very exciting as it will be adding a new underground biome and a new weird little critter, the Sulfur Cube.

This update will likely be before something big, a larger update being teased by the official Minecraft socials. Despite that, this update stands strong on its own. We're very excited to explore the new Sulfur Caves alongside you all.

Minecraft Sulfur Caves biome

The biggest part of the Chaos Cubed teased is the Sulfur Caves, a new underground biome containing, you guessed it, Sulfur. This block has little to no use to our knowledge, a variant of it only giving Nausea when players step in water touching the block. Another block, Cinnabar, is a pretty decoration block that will likely see use in some of our future builds.

Another quirk of this biome is that a lot of Glow Lichen will grow in the area, making it the first way to get a large amount of the stuff for your builds. Alongside these biomes, the new Sulfur Cube mob spawns.

Sulfur Cube mob

The Sulfur Cube is a completely passive mob, being similar to Slimes and Magma Cubes only in function and design. When a bigger variant is killed, it will split into two smaller ones just like its counterparts. It's unknown whether the smaller variants drop anything at this time. The smaller variants will grow into larger ones if left over time, which is a cool mechanic that we can see having some use for infinite Sulfur Cubes.

These guys can pick up blocks and put them inside themselves, becoming stuck in place and invulnerable to most forms of damage, only being knocked back based on damage done. Different blocks have different effects, with most of them doing about what you'd expect. Iron blocks make them heavier and fall faster, while Wool will make it floaty and have much less gravity.

Sulfur Cube block interaction

The potential for making mini-games with these guys is quite vast, so we're very excited to play around with these guys and see what can be done with them. We'll have this update available the moment it comes out, so you and your friends can experience this update firsthand. Check out our Minecraft Server Hosting plans.
