What is VEIN?


VEIN is a post-apocalyptic survival multiplayer game coming soon to early access, with a demo available right now on Steam. The demo covers a small region of the world with a reduced max skill level of 75 instead of 100, and it receives frequent updates and bug fixes.

The game is set during a zombie apocalypse. Most people have died and society has collapsed. You are one of the few survivors left and will need to gather supplies, defend your base from hostiles and rebuild society with your friends.

Over time the world of VEIN changes with long term random events that affect gameplay, along with visual changes such as seasonal weather. Everything in the world can be interacted with. You can open a mailbox, knock on a door and even throw a can of beans at a zombie.

You can build anywhere in the world. Make sure to put up fortifications to defend yourself from invasions and other players. The AI can hear you, see you and even smell you. It will react intelligently to its senses and is always watching, waiting to attack.

VEIN Hosting FAQ

Useful answers specific to VEIN covering the demo, AI systems, config, ports, wipes and performance.

Yes. The public demo uses a smaller map region and caps skills (e.g., 75 vs 100). Dedicated servers will track saves separately; check patch notes when upgrading from demo to EA.
Groups of 4 to 8 survivors fit well on lighter hardware; PvP communities may want 16 to 32 slots. You can upgrade slots later instantly without losing progression.
Default game and query ports are opened automatically with your service. If you change ports in configs/launch params, update the firewall settings in the panel accordingly.
All saves and configuration files live inside your service folder and are accessible via File Manager/FTP. You can download them for local backups or migration.
You can perform a soft wipe (characters/loot) or a full wipe by removing the relevant save data. Always take a backup first so you can roll back if needed.
VEIN’s AI reacts to sight, sound and even smell. Keep noisy generators away from hotspots, limit large light clusters, and schedule restarts to maintain performance as bases grow.
Run Steam Update from the control panel. We suggest backing up and notifying players of a short restart window.
Yes. Open a ticket and we will assist with transferring saves/configs and validating launch parameters so the server starts cleanly.
