What is Valheim?

Valheim is a co-op survival and crafting game set in a procedurally generated Viking afterlife. You start with scraps, stone tools and a rough camp, then work through forests, swamps, mountains, plains, Mistlands and Ashlands as each boss opens up the next part of the world.
The loop is simple, but the world gets big quickly. Gather materials, craft better gear, build proper bases, sail to new islands, tame animals, set up portals and defend the things your group has spent hours making. Food, rested bonuses, weather and enemy raids all matter, so a good Valheim world becomes more than just another save file.
Valheim 1.0 is now available with the Deep North, new enemies, weapons and building pieces, plus full crossplay as PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 join PC, Mac, Linux and Xbox. Older worlds can still be used, but unexplored areas are what generate new biome content, so backups and update timing matter if your group is keeping a long-running save.

Keep the world steady while the group builds bigger
Valheim starts with a campfire and a few rough walls, then somehow turns into portals, boats, storage rooms, farms, boss prep and a list of jobs everyone swears they will finish next time. A shared server keeps that world ready whenever the group has time.
For modded saves, world uploads or longer community runs, server access matters. You can manage files, settings, restarts and backups from the panel, then keep the same world online between sessions.
