Scorched Earth begins with exposure rather than exploration. Water disappears quickly, heatstroke punishes bad preparation, and superheat, sandstorms and electrical storms can turn an ordinary supply run into an emergency. Shelter, clothing and a reliable water source shape the first settlement before a tribe can think about conquering the desert.

The landscape is harsh but not empty. Canyons, dunes, mountains and oasis country each offer different resources and building opportunities, while Morellatops, Thorny Dragons and Mantis help survivors adapt to life away from the greener ARKs. Wind turbines and Adobe structures make the environment part of the technology path as well as the threat.

Reaching the Wyvern trench, stealing an egg and raising the hatchling provides the map's defining long-term pursuit, with each stage demanding preparation across several sessions. Beyond that breeding project, the Manticore waits behind the caves and artefacts as the final test of the tribe's desert campaign.

An always-online Scorched Earth server preserves the wells, shelters, breeding areas and supply caches that gradually make the desert survivable for the whole tribe. When linked into a cluster, it becomes a focused desert campaign where Wyverns and expansion resources can be earned under Scorched Earth's harsher conditions before approved transfers take them elsewhere.
