What's new in 7 Days to Die version 1.0 launch

7 Days to Die has been in development for twelve years, but as of the release of the upcoming 1.0 update this month, it will finally be leaving Steam's Early Access. In anticipation of this release, the devs at Fun Pimps have also announced a roadmap moving onwards into 2025 of new content. If you don't own the game, head over to the 7 Days to Die Steam Page to get the game before the price increase!

Once the 7D2D Experimental branch for version 1.0 has launched today, we'll have it available on our 7 Days to Die Server hosting, with the ability to install it with one-click. We provide installers for many popular mods too, such as Darkness Falls and Undead Legacy.

7 Days to Die - roadmap to 1.0 release

What's coming in 1.0?

The 7 Days to Die 1.0 update brings with it numerous changes, alongside an official console release. The main content updates are predominantly catered towards quality-of-life fixes and changes, specifically with many new options coming to player customisation, both in terms of clothing and models. The RWG (Random World Generator) is also being overhauled, allowing for an extra degree of variety to everything as it will include every biome available to date.

Players will also have access to new armour sets, such as the Farmer, which will provide bonuses to wearing the entire set. Alongside this, players can also look forward to further advancements in building with additional tiers coming for various structures. Specifically, the apartments and building strips will be receiving Tier 2 upgrades, the Army Camp can now be upgraded to Tier 4, and the School and Football Stadium can both be upgraded to Tier 5.

The wilderness itself is also being improved, with brand-new points of interest scattered around the map, including a host of new wildlife to both hunt down players and be hunted by players. The new animals include bears, stags, pigs, boars, coyotes, wolves, and rabbits. Perhaps the most exciting addition to the new fauna is the mutated bear, which might be an overworld boss of some description. Alongside these new animals will also be the addition of new vehicles, including a new bicycle, 4x4, motorcycle and gyrocopter.

7 Days to Die - roadmap to 1.0 release

What else is there to look forward to?

The update for 1.0 will also bring with it a roadmap of new features that will be progressively added to the game through updates, with the first releasing in late 2024, all the way to the end of 2025.

In a community post, the devs announced said roadmap, with the first release set to be titled Storm's Brewing, which, as the name implies, will be overhauling the weather, as well as further overhauls to biomes. Storm's Brewing is also bringing with it the potential for cross-play, so everyone can play together, as well as wardrobe updates and the addition of clothing DLC.

The second update, titled A New Threat, will be released in early/mid 2025, and will be adding bandits as a new potential enemy type, as well as a new event system and quest type and overhauling the UI.

The third and final announced update is The Road Ahead and will be released in late 2025. With this final update, players can look forward to some exciting additions; specifically, a story mode will become available to play. This last update will also bring with it an overhaul to the trading system, yet another new quest type, and Steam Workshop support, which we will have integration for on our 7 Days to Die Server Hosting.

With 7 Days to Die finally leaving early access, it is certainly an exciting time to be a fan of 7D2D, as there will be many more things in the future to bring us back to the fray.
